How Much Does Scooter Rental in Nice Cost? The Real Budget

Black 125cc scooter with tricolour stripe and chrome rack on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice

In short

At MatMonScoot, a 50cc retro scooter in Nice costs 35 euros a day, 215 euros a week or 450 euros a month. The 125cc costs 60 euros a day, 370 euros a week or 770 euros a month. Two helmets, gloves, a lock, third-party insurance, assistance and delivery within Nice are included. You only add fuel.

Whether you are flying in from London for a long weekend or spending two weeks on the Riviera from the States, the first practical question is the same: how much does scooter rental in Nice actually cost, once everything is added up? Here is the honest answer, line by line: our full rate table, what is included, the card deposit, fuel, and the simple ways to pay less.

Scooter rental Nice price: the full table

We rent two engine sizes. The 50cc column covers our Dolce 50 (red) and Riviera 50 (black and white). The 125cc column is the Milano 125, black with a tricolour stripe. Prices are in euros.

Rental length50ccPer day125ccPer day
1 day35 €35 €60 €60 €
2 days70 €35 €120 €60 €
3 days105 €35 €180 €60 €
4 days140 €35 €240 €60 €
5 days175 €35 €300 €60 €
6 days210 €35 €360 €60 €
7 days215 €about 30.70 €370 €about 52.90 €
14 days300 €about 21.40 €510 €about 36.40 €
30 days450 €15 €770 €about 25.70 €

How to read it: up to six days, the price is simply per day. The discount kicks in at one week, and it is a big one. The seventh day costs just 5 euros extra on a 50cc (10 euros on the 125cc), and over a month a 50cc works out at 15 euros a day. The same table is on our rates page.

What the price includes

The daily rate is not a teaser price with extras bolted on at the counter. It already includes:

  • Two approved helmets, so a second rider costs nothing extra
  • Gloves, which are compulsory for rider and passenger in France
  • A high-end lock
  • Third-party liability insurance
  • Assistance 7 days a week by phone and WhatsApp
  • Delivery within Nice to your hotel, Airbnb or a meeting point

What it does not include, to be completely clear: fuel, any paid parking, traffic or parking fines, and damage to the scooter, which remains the renter's responsibility under our terms. If you are used to rental cars with collision cover, note the difference: third-party insurance covers damage you cause to others, not the scooter itself. That is what the deposit is for.

The deposit: a hold, not a charge

The deposit is a pre-authorisation on your card: 800 euros for a 50cc, 1,000 euros for the 125cc. Nothing is charged. The amount is held on your card and released once the scooter comes back in the condition it left. It only comes into play if something goes wrong: damage, missing fuel or a very late return.

Two tips for international visitors. Check that your card limit leaves room for the hold on top of your holiday spending. And remember that how quickly a released hold disappears from your statement depends on your bank, not on us. Photos are taken at handover and return, which protects everyone.

Fuel: the only real extra

You receive the scooter with a certain fuel level and bring it back at the same level. If it comes back lower, the missing fuel is charged along with a handling fee, so it is always cheaper to fill up yourself before returning it. The good news: a 50cc uses very little, and one tank goes a long way between Nice, Villefranche and Cap Ferrat.

Why scooter rental prices differ in Nice

Shop around and you will see quite different daily rates. Before you compare two numbers, check what each one really covers:

  • The second helmet: included, or an add-on?
  • Gloves, which the law requires: supplied or not?
  • Getting the scooter: delivered to you, or collected from a shop across town?
  • The deposit: how much, and what it covers.
  • The scooter itself: engine size, condition and style.
  • The small print: fuel, late returns, cancellation.

The figure that matters is not the headline daily rate, it is the total cost of your trip. A cheap scooter rental in Nice can stop being cheap once you add a passenger helmet and two taxi rides to and from a rental shop.

Why free delivery matters for your budget

Collecting a scooter means a trip out, a trip back on your last day, and holiday time spent on logistics. We bring the scooter to your hotel, Airbnb or a meeting point, by appointment. It is free within Nice, and nearby towns are possible on request. We do the check on the spot, fit your helmets, share a few local tips, and you ride off from your own front door.

How to pay less, honestly

Rent for the right length

Staying six days? Book the week: 5 euros more on a 50cc buys you an extra day. For a fortnight, the 14-day rate (300 euros) is far cheaper than two separate weeks (430 euros). For an in-between length such as ten days, ask us for the exact price before you book.

Pick the right engine size

Over a week, a 50cc costs 155 euros less than the 125cc. If you are staying around Nice and the coast road to Villefranche, Beaulieu and Cap Ferrat, the 50cc, limited to 45 km/h, is all you need. If you are planning the Grande or Moyenne Corniche, Èze village, Antibes or Monaco (only with MatMonScoot's prior written approval, which you can request when booking), take the 125cc: saving money only to crawl up every hill is a false economy. Avoid the avoidable charges

  • Return on time: more than two hours late may be charged as an extra day. Message us if you are running behind.
  • Top up the fuel before the return.
  • Park in marked two-wheeler bays, never on the pavement, where fines are common.
  • Lock it every time: you are protecting your deposit.

Share the ride

With two helmets included, one scooter is enough for a couple. The Riviera 50, with its two-seater saddle and under-seat trunk, is made for exactly that.
